European cardiac resynchronization therapy survey: rationale and design.

AIMS The European cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) Survey is a joint initiative taken by the Heart Failure Association (HFA) and European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) of the European Society of Cardiology. The primary objective is to describe the current European practice and routines associated with CRT/CRT-D implantations based on a wide range of sampling in 13 countries. METHODS ...

Corrigendum to: European Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Survey II: rationale and design.

The Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) Survey II is a 6 months snapshot survey initiated by two ESC Associations, the European Heart Rhythm Association and the Heart Failure Association, which is designed to describe clinical practice regarding implantation of CRT devices in a broad sample of hospitals in 47 ESC member countries. The large volume of clinical and demographic data collected ...

How are arrhythmias detected by implanted cardiac devices managed in Europe? Results of the European Heart Rhythm Association Survey.

The management of arrhythmias detected by implantable cardiac devices can be challenging. There are no formal international guidelines to inform decision-making. The purpose of this European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) survey was to assess the management of various clinical scenarios among members of the EHRA electrophysiology research network. There were 49 responses to the questionnaire. ...

Periprocedural anticoagulation therapy for devices and atrial fibrillation ablation.

This EP Wire surveyed clinical practice with regard to the use of antithrombotic therapy in relation to device implantation (pacemakers, ICT, resynchronization therapy) and atrial fibrillation ablation in 71 centres-members of the European Heart Rhythm Association research network. The results of this survey show variation in clinical practice, but reassuringly some consistency with guidelines ...

Cardiac resynchronization therapy upgrade in a patient with dextrocardia and situs inversus.

Cardiac resynchronization therapy in patients with congenital heart disease can be technically challenging. We report a case of upgrade of an implantable cardioverter defibrillator to a resynchronization device, in a patient with dextrocardia and situs inversus. The procedure was successfully performed without complication, using a conventional approach and standard equipment.

Pacemaker-mediated tachycardia in an unconventional resynchronization device.

A 67-year-old male patient with heart failure and permanent atrial fibrillation underwent atrio-ventricular nodal ablation and a biventricular device implantation. Instead of a standard cardiac resynchronization therapy device, a DDD pacemaker was implanted with the left ventricular lead in the atrial channel. After the implant, a pacemaker-mediated tachycardia caused by T wave oversensing by t...
